{February 2014}
I recently discovered that my husband was still actively engaged in his addictions. His enormous amounts of bad shame kept him from coming forward and reaching for out for help. Over the years as I educated myself on addiction I was at a place where I wanted my husband to come to me, I wanted to fight this together, and I believed we were. Shame kept my husband in his addiction, shame was his bondage, shame, BAD shame was what brought us to this point. I encourage all who are effected by addictions to do some research on the science behind addictions, learn why people fall into addictions, what the underlying causes are, and methods to get help for these problems. AND those that love someone with addictions... Please, I am begging you, seek help for YOU!!!!!!!!! You can not control the addict, you can not make the addict stop, you can not fix them. The only person you have control over is you, take care of you, make sure you are seeking help for the trauma of the addicts behaviors!!!
